New Friends – Number 2
Here’s my final lloveletters update on our Mission Trip. If you haven’t read New Friends (the post before this one), you need to do that now.
My new friend did not come back on Wednesday night. I was a bit disappointed when I did not see him at supper. Then, when I went to the classroom, there was only one person there, and it was a woman. I took a moment to thank God for someone, anyone, and, once again, started a conversation sans the Bible Study material.
Within a few seconds she informed me that she was married to the gentleman who had sat with me for about 90 minutes the night before. He had been required to work late, so she brought the kids to VBS. It was her first time to be in any Church other than the Roman Catholic Church where she went as a child.
So now, here is the opportunity to talk with her about the same things I had discussed with her husband. So I did. For over an hour we talked – to the point that I am sure they (together) will have a conversation, UBC will follow up, and, if God so chooses, those three little ones could grow up in a Christian home.
I brought home almost all the Bible Study materials I took with me. My ego as a “highly sought-after” Bible teacher took a big hit - but I was able to share the Gospel, personally, fully, one on one, with two people. Those seeds, watered, and exposed to the Light, will come to harvest.
Now- what could be better than that?

Yes,
I did read “New Friends” and thought about “my” encounter with “Shady Grove Baptist Grove”
We people are a wondering people, on the journey, seeking and hoping to find “truth.” As pilot questioned Jesus: “What is truth?”
I pray that the seeds you planted fell on “good ground” and not be stifled by other questionings.
I enjoy reading your postings

Thank you Bro Bill for sharing these with us. Isn’t it wonderful, the husband worked late, so the wife brings the children to church and you have the opportunity to talk to her. Hal-le-ja, praise the Lord.

Lulie,
I am pleased that you are taking time to read the notes. Seeds we plant are left to the work of God. He is the only One who can make them grow.
Llove to you -

Thanks for your reports on New Friends. Isn’t it wonderful when the Lord does His Work in His Way in His Time in spite of our personal plans. These stories remind me of the many times Jesus was interrupted and “unexpected” ministry took place. I hope ChristianWest’s church grasps the deep love he has for people and doing the Lord’s work.
