Thought For The Day

Handling the Feast

I will begin this post by stating clearly – I know nothing about sushi bars or the items that are served there. I don’t eat raw fish and I am not fond of tuna. That said –

A bluefin tuna sold for a record $1.76 million at a Tokyo auction on Saturday, nearly three times the high price set last year. The best slices of tuna in the area can sell for $24 per piece at upscale Tokyo sushi bars. (ABC News)

Now it seems to me that this is the kind of business to get into – sushi bars, I mean. After all, people eat this stuff raw, right? So you don’t have to have the expensive chef on staff to cook it. You just slice off a piece and collect your money. Serving other raw stuff – like veggies, means no expensive cookware, gas for fires, etc. Hence, you can afford to pay a million plus bucks for ONE tuna. (Is that the same stuff that comes in little cans?)

I know some Churches who handle the Word of God, on which God’s people should be feasting, in the same manner. Just slice it up and serve it without preparation, and skill. The Word of God is far to important to hand out “raw.” God empowered men, enlightened by His Spirit, “rightly dividing (cutting it straight) the Word of Truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).

That’s the ticket to a genuine feast of Godly proportions.
