Thought For The Day

Big Day

Regardless of who may be elected President of the United States, I wonder about the value of Inaugural Festivities. I read that “donors” are putting up $50 million dollars (at least), and Heaven only knows what costs will revert to the American taxpayer. I would imagine the increased security, transportation, use of public buildings and public employees,. . .well, you can imagine.

How about a simple “swearing in” ceremony on the Capitol steps, with the “public” invited to attend, first there, first row, and then everybody go back to work.

We could use that money – tax-payer money – and the donor money, if they still want to give it, to pay a few teachers, policemen, firemen – when, after all, we keep hearing that is what we need most.

Maybe, instead of this-
Others may attend a “candlelight reception” at the National Building Museum, where a photo reception with the president, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., and their wives will cost as much as $100,000. (The New York Times)

-we could put some money back in the “lock-box” that was stolen by Congress from Social Security. Or we could provide some armed protection for kids in first grade. Each $100k would easily pay for two employees for a year – as long as they don’t work for the Government.

I’m sorry, I guess I lost my mind there for a moment or two. Government would say “that is not enough money to “turn around on. It just doesn’t matter.” Funny, my bride counts every penny in our budget. I was just thinking maybe Washington could count every million bucks of taxpayer’s money in theirs (if they had one – which they don’t).

One thing’s for sure though, God lloves them all!
