Thought For The Day

Mistake?

My Pastor asked me today if I thought is was a mistake for him to spend a small but significant portion of his time reading about the things (we call it the “News”) that are going on locally, Nationally, politically, etc., when there is so much to be done spiritually.

I tried to convince him that he needs to be wise about the actions of the Enemy so that the Scripture can be properly applied, and that we need to be alert and aware of ‘the signs of the times’ including the demise of our great heritage as Americans.

He was studying the 12th Chapter of Hebrews (he is currently teaching Hebrews on Wednesday evenings) and counseled me to “hear the voice of Him who speaks” (meaning God, of course), and recognize that He is going to “shake not only the Earth, but also Heaven.” The passage indicates the removal of all things physical, consequently leaving only those things which are eternal. The passage goes on the declare that our purpose and goal is to “serve God acceptably with reverence and Godly fear.”

“Certainly it is time to stop being concerned about Earthly things, and sharpen our focus on Heavenly things”, he said. When that time comes “all that is not eternal, along with those who are not redeemed, will then understand that ‘our God is a consuming fire.'”
