Thought For The Day

The Power of Influence

For those who are elected to positions of leadership, especially as our Nation envisions the structure of Government, to deny the power of their influence is insulting. It is also divisive, cowardly, and exceedingly foolish.

While President Barack Obama has vigorously endorsed gay marriage, as recently as in his second inaugural speech last Monday, he also has suggested that the federal government should not take the lead. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the day after the inauguration ceremony that while Obama’s “personal view” favors same-sex marriage, he “believes that it’s an issue that should be addressed by the states.” (Reuters)

Actually the issue has been addressed by the Infinite God of Heaven and Earth. No further discussion is needed. Those who embrace Scripture, lead the Church of Jesus Christ, and claim authority to speak on God’s behalf – and then embrace, support, or remain silent on moral issues – are likewise divisive, cowardly, and exceedingly foolish. (Romans 1:32)

In an unprecedented attempt to refrain from being “offensive” to those who have chosen rebellion rather than Truth, we have offended the righteousness of God. That there is an issue regarding homosexuality is a National tragedy that propels our society toward destruction. Added to the infanticide of abortion, the purposeful destruction of home and family, the attempt to cleanse one’s mind of any moral values, our people, our society, our Nation, move with blinding speed toward God’s final judgment. (Romans 2:2)
