Thought For The Day

The Monastery

I watched a video last week (check out – 60 Minutes: Mount Athos: A visit to the Holy Mountain)  regarding St. Paul’s Monastery at Mount Athos in Macedonia, Greece. It is certainly one beautiful place from a visual perspective. Monks who go there spend their life live in a quite spartan style. They work, pray, worship, and have almost no contact with the outside world.

I am thinking that might just be the place to spend my retirement years. Of course I don’t know what I will do with my incredible bride, and that problem has to be solved. Once I get them (the monks of the monastery) to accept us as a couple, perhaps we can make it work.

If you are wondering why I would do that – it’s simple. I would no longer have to endure the endless pains of society. No TV. No phones. No “news.” No interaction with silly, profane, foul-mouthed, unwashed masses. No more lies. No more politics. No more financial concerns. No more endless trips here, there, and yon for whatever.

I know. It’s never going to happen. I must endure to the end – about the calling of our Lord. Just like you, God’s will probably doesn’t grant that kind of freedom to ordinary people like me.

Take a look at the place (you can find it on the Internet). If you can figure out how we can do this. . .give me a call.
