Thought For The Day

Vacation Bible School

Our Pastor keeps me so busy on Sunday, and Wednesday (and all the rest of the time too) that I don’t get to spend much, if any, time watching and listening to our children in Sunday School, AWANA, or other activities.

However, as the “technical director” for VBS, I get to sit in on the opening and closing features, attend all the “music” sessions, and take pictures in the classrooms and during recreation. It is a real treat.

I am amazed at how some of the younger kids get the words all wrong in the songs. Some are just funny – others, well, quite unbelievable. Out in the recreation area it is great fun to watch them “play,” especially the “water games.” How they llove to soak the adult leader.

The don’t hesitate to shout out the words they think are important, and watching the teachers and leaders get them still and quiet is a study in discipline that works.

I can’t help but wonder how long it will be before some of them will be corrupted by our senseless society; how long before peer pressure in schools will lead them into trouble? How many years will it take before, as teens, they will be forced to deal with the innumerable issues of personal morality.

Therefore, it is important for me praise, support, laud, applaud, and speak highly of those who are teaching, leading, directing, playing with, our kids. You, along with Godly parents, are beginning, and continuing, the incredibly difficult task of keeping them focused on the things that really matter forever in their life. You are THE BEST.  Your Pastor and I THANK YOU SO VERY, VERY MUCH!!
