How To Grow A Church

I have been getting information from multitudes of entrepreneurs over the years about how to grow a Church. For just a few dollars (yeah, right) they will send you the latest, greatest, best, most proven, highly acclaimed, unfailing information on doubling or tripling your attendance in a matter of weeks.

Now, without fanfare, I think I have the real “skinny.” Since many are anxious to get unChurched people in the pew, and want to make theology as palatable as possible, I think lots of people will go for the “Baptism and Booze” approach.

Seattle police say a baptism celebration turned into a brawl in which five officers were assaulted and two celebrants were arrested.  Police say abundant alcohol was being served Saturday night at the South Park Community Center to celebrate the baptism, and fighting broke out before midnight. When officers arrived and tried to break up the fights, the crowd turned on them. (Associated Press)

I have to admit there may be a few police persons who won’t be joining, but, add a bingo game here or there, a few sandwiches and chips, maybe a hit of pot or two – lo and behold – attendance is WAY HIGH! (I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist)

Our Preacher says not much changes at our place – except the guests. We’re still singing, praying, and learning the Word of God. It may not attract mega-crowds, but you can hear the Truth. That’s got to be worth more than can be measured.
