Credit Where Credit Is Due

Some days ago I condemned several folks for not getting their information right in the matter of Hobby Lobby vs. the United States of America. It appeared that there was not going to be anyone standing up for the truth. Obviously my reading and hearing are limited – so perhaps there have been some getting it right all along.

But my first reading of that was today (7/16/14). Because “emergency” legislation came before the United States Senate to effectively overrule the decision of the Supreme Court in this case, and that legislation was turned back, some are now speaking out (and perhaps they have done so all along).

Even liberal commentators have hit Democrats for inaccurate statements about the Hobby Lobby ruling. The Washington Post’s fact checker Glenn Kessler has dinged Hillary Clinton, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi, and a host of other top Democrats for suggesting the Hobby Lobby ruling made certain types of contraception illegal. Getting the facts right is critical in this environment. When Government is forcefully attempting to take away the Constitutional freedoms of all Americans, there is little room for error in “getting it right.”

I have spent the majority of my life attempting to get the Truth right as it is proclaimed so clearly in God’s revelation to man through His holy Word. There are always those who miss-hear, miss-speak, and miss-interpret. In both cases (God and Government) it is no less than a matter of life and death. Our failure to protect the life of those most innocent has cost us in excess of 50,000,000 (that’s fifty million) American lives in recent years. Getting God’s Truth wrong supports and continues the loss of life (eternal – beginning at the Cross of Christ) for an innumerable host of humans here in America – and around the World.
