Thought For The Day

Life and Death

Robin Williams was a very funny man and a great character actor. I enjoyed much of his work and will miss enjoying the “older characters” he would have produce in the later years of his life.

What is most sad about his death is that his whole life seems to have been moving toward such a fate. Alcoholism and drugs were prominent in his life, and we are told that severe depression was a constant companion.  Such genius should be surrounded with genuine llove and Truth. I am saddened that neither was apparent.

Will kids and young people learn from his untimely death the reality of his life? Who knows. It is doubtful.  “Words and ideas can change the World.” (Dead Poet’s Society) We can only hope that true words and valuable ideas will spring from the tragedy.

I hope that this type tragedy could be avoided by some if they will watch one of his movies called “Seize the Day” in which he plays the part of a very disturbed, despondent son of a loveless father who showed no affection for him when he was out of work, broke and taken advantage of at every turn. His decision almost looks like a continuation of the movie plot. So Sad. Lord, help me to remember how fortunate I am to Know You!
