Thought For The Day

Derailed

I’ve seen a couple of trains after they left the tracks – and it’s a mess. Trains are wonderful on the tracks, but when they get off, things go downhill rather rapidly.

It happened this week-end near Ft. Worth, Texas. A report in the Star-Telegram by Bill Miller and Gordon Dickerson said:

Passenger service on the Trinity Railway Express likely will remain disrupted until early Wednesday, after a freight train derailed Sunday night in east Fort Worth.

No one calls them “train wrecks” anymore (at least the people who own the trains don’t), but that is exactly what it is – a train wreck.

Interestingly enough that is exactly what I see when I look at our society trying to figure out what it means to be a Christian. With every religion and denomination spouting their particular take on the issue, and the local and National media running wide open in an attempt to prove something that can’t be proven with words or pictures, the whole thing has become a “train wreck.”

Of course defining Christianity is easy – if you go to the source. It’s a “piece of cake” if you read the right Book. Talk to the One who is the Christ of Christianity, and the answers are simple and clear.

Don’t know about you, but I would rather have a piece of cake than a train wreck, any day.
